Dry Strength Additives. Polyacrylamides (PAMs) are used to increase the dry strength of papers by hydrogen bonding. PAM of molecular weight of 100,000 to 500,000 is used at about 0.5% on pulp and also acts as a retention aid. It is sometimes used to allow increased use of lower quality pulps such as secondary and hardwood fiber.
Its effect is that it is mainly used in tertiary oil recovery of oil fields in the aspect oil production, and raw oil of about 100 to 150ton more can be produced through filling the macromolecule polyacrylamide product one ton.
