List of Singapore Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants
NEWater is the relclaimed water produced in Singapore from treated wastewater (sewage) through treatment using conventional biological treatment, microfiltration and reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet disinfection processes.
For disinfection, chlorine is used to destroy the bacteria and viruses. Ozone is used, as well as chlorine, at Choa Chu Kang and Bedok Waterworks. Ammonia is added in the treated water containing free chlorine to form a stable chlorine residual. Activated carbon is also used to remove any bad taste and odour.

Water Pollution - Water Treatment Process & Plant Design
Causes for Water Pollution. The water pollution may be caused by the wastewater discharges either from point source or non-point sources. Point sources include effluent outfalls from industries, waste treatment plants etc., that discharge effluents of varying quality directly into the water resources.
Water reuse in Singapore takes two forms – Industrial water and NEWater. Industrial water which was first introduced in 1966, is a lower grade of reclaimed water and serves as an alternative water source for non-potable use in industries. In 2003, high-grade reclaimed water, known as NEWater was introduced.

Changi Water Reclamation Plant is located at the eastern end of Singapore. It is one of the largest and most technologically advanced reclamation facilities in the world. An inside view of completed deep tunnel sewerage system (DTSS). Phase one of DTSS was completed in 2008. Influent pumping station (IPS) at Changi Water Reclamation Plant.
Hyflux » Wastewater Treatment & Recycling
Wastewater Treatment & Recycling A pioneer in providing NEWater (high-grade recycled water produced through advanced membrane technology) solutions in Singapore, Hyflux makes wastewater safe for cities and industries to discharge into the environment or to reuse as potable or industrial-grade water.
Singapore has two separate systems to collect rainwater and used water. 1. Rainwater is collected through a comprehensive network of drains, canals and rivers and channelled to the reservoirs before it is treated for drinking water. 2. Used water is collected in a network of underground sewers that lead to a water reclamation plant.
Water Pollution Control in Asia | ScienceDirect
Water Pollution of shallow wells in Chiang Mai municipality was investigated by monitoring the water quality levels of twenty two sampling wells, in the whole 1987. pH, nitrite-nitrogen, nitrate-nitrogen, ammonia-nitrogen, chloride, total organic carbon, fecal coliforms and total phosphorus were in the ranges of 5.72–7.50, nil-170 ug/L, 0.014
A GoldSim water balance model provided an estimate of the required design flow to build a plant that would avoid these issues, and process modeling facilitated definition of the treatment
- Which cationic polyacrylamide has a charge density of 40%?
- Three commercial cationic (PAM +S,τ40 ), nonionic (PAM °S) and anionic (PAM −S,τ40) polyacrylamides (PAMs) with a medium chain length produced by the SNF group (Andrézieux, France) were used ( Table 1 ). PAM +S,τ40 and PAM −S,τ40 have a charge density of 40%.
- Are cationic and anionic polymers the same?
- Both anionic and cationic polymer forms are known; however, the bulk of commercially successful products are cationic. These products are useful particularly in papermaking applications where the presence of oils and surfactants are environmentally unfriendly or are detrimental to the papermaking process. 34.2.5.3. Dry polyacrylamides
- What is an anionic polyacrylamide?
- Anionic polyacrylamides make up the largest portion of the polyacrylamide market. The polymers can be prepared over a wide range of anionic charges and molecular weights (1000 to > 20,000,000 molecular weight). The workhorse comonomer for the production of anionic polyacrylamides is acrylate salts of acrylic acid.
- What type of polyacrylamide is used in oil industry?
- The polyacrylamide use can be anionic, cationic, or nonionic with various ratios of the comonomers used in the case of the anionic and cationic polymers. The anionic polyacrylamides in the oil field industry are designated by the generic name of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (PHPA), although they are in actuality copolymers .
