Synthesis and characterization of amphoteric
Synthesis and characterization of amphoteric polyacrylamide by dispersion polymerization in aqueous salts solution Article in Designed Monomers & Polymers 16(6):592-600 · November 2013 with 16 Reads
The synthetic method of amphoteric polyacrylamide is studied. The effects of reaction temperature, reaction concentration and reaction time are discussed in details. In the flocculation tests , the flocculant behaviors of inorganic polymer coagulant and the composites of inorganic polymer coagulant and organic polymer coagulant are studied respectively.
Preparation of amphoteric polyacrylamide flocculant
Through two‐phase aqueous polymerization, amphoteric polyacrylamide (AmPAM) emulsion, as an environmental friendly flocculant for the tannery wastewater, was firstly synthesized using ammonium sulfate aqueous solution as the dispersion, using acrylamide, cationic monomer ethylene methyl propenoyl‐trimethylammonium chloride (DMC), and anionic monomer acrylic acid (AA).

Proteins are amphoteric compounds. Their net charge is determined by the pH of their environment. At pH above its isoelectric point, a protein has a net negative charge and migrates towards the anode in an electrical field.

In addition, methods for administering pharmacologically active agent to a subject are provided.
Vegetables as Chemical Reagents - Journal of Natural
Biocatalysis is an important adjunct to the chemical armamentarium that organic chemists may bring to bear for the synthesis of important intermediates and finished pharmaceutical and other commercial products. For most of the world however, such catalytic reagents are not an option due to their high cost and import limitations. Recent studies indicate that the use of locally available

- What is high molecular weight polyacrylamide (PAM)?
- Provided by the Springer Nature SharedIt content-sharing initiative High molecular weight (106–3 × 107 Da) polyacrylamide (PAM) is commonly used as a flocculant in water and wastewater treatment, as a soil conditioner, and as a viscosity modifier and friction reducer in both enhanced oil recovery and high volume hydraulic fracturing.
- What is ionic polyacrylamide?
- The ionic forms of polyacrylamide has found an important role in the potable water treatment industry. Trivalent metal salts, like ferric chloride and aluminum chloride, are bridged by the long polymer chains of polyacrylamide. This results in significant enhancement of the flocculation rate.
- Is polyacrylamide contaminated with acrylamide?
- Polyacrylamide is of low toxicity but its precursor acrylamide is a neurotoxin and carcinogen. Thus, concerns naturally center on the possibility that polyacrylamide is contaminated with acrylamide. Considerable effort is made to scavenge traces of acrylamide from the polymer intended for use near food.
- What is polyacrylamide used for?
- One of the largest uses for polyacrylamide is to flocculate solids in a liquid. This process applies to water treatment, and processes like paper making and screen printing. Polyacrylamide can be supplied in a powder or liquid form, with the liquid form being subcategorized as solution and emulsion polymer.
