[Treatment of the complications of polyacrylamide hydrogel
METHODS: 48 patients who accepted polyacrylamide hydrogel injection for augmentation mammaplasty were included in this study. Operations were performed for the complications of polyacrylamide hydrogel injection. The clinical data were analyzed and the experience in the treatment of the complications was summarized.
BACKGROUND: Polyacrylamide hydrogel has gained international attention as a new injectable permanent filler that appears to be ideal for soft-tissue augmentation. However, studies on the safety of polyacrylamide hydrogel injection are limited and inconsistent. In the authors' experience, polyacrylamide hydrogel injections can induce complications.
