Chlorine (NaDCC) - Akvopedia
NaDCC tablet. NaDCC, also known as Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate or Troclosene Sodium, is one form of chlorine used for disinfection. It is often used to treat water in emergencies, and is now widely available for household water treatment. NaDCC tablets are available with different chlorine content (e.g. 3.5 mg to 10 g) to treat from 1 to 3000 litres at a time.
Household water treatment using sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) has been recognized as a cost-effective means of reducing the heavy burden of diarrhea and other waterborne diseases, especially among populations without access to improved water supplies. Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC), which is widely used in emergencies, is an
Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate in Drinking-water
SODIUM DICHLOROISOCYANURATE IN DRINKING-WATER 2 treatment, requires approximately 1.6 mg of anhydrous NaDCC per litre and approximately 1.8 mg/l for the dihydrate.
Guideline values 50 mg/litre (as sodium dichloroisocyanurate) 40 mg/litre (as cyanuric acid) Occurrence Where sodium dichloroisocyanurate is used for the disinfection of drinking- water, exposure will be to both the chlorinated species and residual cyanuric acid.
Sodium dichloroisocyanurate
Sodium dichloroisocyanurate (INN: sodium troclosene, troclosenum natricum or NaDCC or SDIC) is a chemical compound widely used as a cleansing agent and disinfectant. It is a colorless, water-soluble solid. The dihydrate is also known as is the potassium salt ().Uses. It is mainly used as a disinfectant, biocide and industrial deodorant. It is found in some modern water purification tablets/filters.
For each surface and for each treatment, a square was cut resulted to a total of 24 squares which corresponds to 24 samples. Each sample was an area of 40 × 40 μm 2. Preparation of chemicals. The commercial disinfection products used in this study was sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC). This product is used in Quebec’s health system.
Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (SDIC) For Water Treatment
Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate(SDIC or NaDCC) is a white grain with chlorine odor. It is a strong oxidant and chlorating agent, and also dissolves in water easily. In general, SDIC Powder/Tablet/Granule is widely used as a disinfectant, biocide, detergent and industrial deodorant. And it also has a similar application with TCCA 90. Its mechanism of action is that it can release low concentrations of chlorine at a constant rate.
Sodium dichloroisocyanurate is used in industrial circulating water treatment system. As an important part of industrial cold water tower water treatment agent, it can effectively prevent the growth of algae microorganisms, does not cause corrosion to industrial equipment, and can maintain circulation for a long time.

Public health partners targeted distribution of a 3-month supply of sodium dichloroisocyanurate water-purification tablets (i.e., enough tablets to treat a single 20-liter bucket for drinking water every day per household for 3 months) to all households in suburbs that were defined as being at high risk, and disseminated health education messages highlighting the importance of safe water
Sodium hypochlorite, the active ingredient in common household bleach, is the primary disinfectant promoted by CDC and the World Health Organization. Other chlorine-containing compounds such as calcium hypochlorite and sodium dichloroisocyanurate, available in granular or tablet formulation, are equally effective for water treatment.

- Who are the leading companies in the polyacrylamide market?
- SNF Floerger Group (France), Kemira Oyj (Finland), BASF SE (Germany), China National Petroleum Corporation (China), and Anhui Jucheng Fine Chemicals (China) are the leading companies in the polyacrylamide market. These companies are expected to account for a significant market share in the near future.
- Who makes global polyacrylamide (PAM)?
- Major players in the production of Global Polyacrylamide (PAM) are SNF Floerger Group, BASF, Anhui Jucheng Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd., Xitao Polymer Co., Ltd, Kemira Oyj, Black Rose Industries Limited, Wuxi Tianxin Chemicals Co., Ltd., Tianrun Chemicals, China National Petroleum Corporation, and others. Years considered for this report:
- Where is acrylamide produced?
- SNF Holding, which claimed CBI, indicated status as a leading worldwide producer of polyacrylamide, supplying 48% of worldwide consumption in 2025 (SNF, 2021). Reported domestic production of acrylamide takes place at six facilities located in Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Virginia.
- Is polyacrylamide contaminated with acrylamide?
- Polyacrylamide is of low toxicity but its precursor acrylamide is a neurotoxin and carcinogen. Thus, concerns naturally center on the possibility that polyacrylamide is contaminated with acrylamide. Considerable effort is made to scavenge traces of acrylamide from the polymer intended for use near food.
