In the paper, the effects of the ion type, charge density and molecular weight of polyacrylamide on the retention of mineral fibers and the properties of the paper were studied.
To use the cationic PAM as the retention agent, the retention rate is 98%. The tiny fiber and the lignin in the pulp has better combination with the cationic polyacrylanmide than the anionic polyacrylamide, the cationic polyacrylamide has strong effect on the retention efforts.
