The effect of polyacrylamide charge density and molecular
The adsorption measurements were performed by batch technique to obtain equilibrium data. For isotherm studies, adsorption experiments were carried out in 250 ml flasks by adding a known concentration of flocculants to 100 ml of kaolinite dispersion (of 2.0% by volume solids).

Charge effects in the adsorption of polyacrylamides
Adsorption of relatively high molecular weight non-ionic and anionic polyacrylamides on sodium kaolinite has been studied simultaneously with various flocculation responses (per cent solids settled, settling rate and supernatant clarity) under controlled conditions of ionic strength, temperature and agitation.

Adsorption of polyacrylamides on siliceous minerals
The modifications in structure and surface charge induced by thermal treatment of silicon carbide particles drastically alters the adsorption properties of both neutral and charged polyacrylamides. Changes in pH and salinity have significant effects on the amount of charged polymer adsorbed onto all siliceous minerals.

Dye flocculation using polyampholytes and polyelectrolyte
The results are compared with homopolymers and with those obtained using nonstoichiometric polyelectrolyte–surfactant complex (PSC) dispersions with adjustable surface charge density. The polyampholytes as well as the PSC can successfully remove the dye Celliton Fast Blue (Dispers blue 3).
The effects of solution pH, as well as polymer molecular weight and concentration, were studied. The obtained results indicated that the highest adsorption on the activated carbon surface was exhibited by PAA with lower molecular weight (i.e., 2000 Da) at pH 3.
[PDF] Polyacrylamide Use for Erosion and Turbidity Control
Streams and lakes adjacent to construction sites are often heavily impaired by sediment and turbidity coming from areas of exposed soil. A study was conducted to determine if the application of polyacrylamide (PAM) can reduce erosion and runoff turbidity on moderate to steep slopes at construction sites. The test sites were three North Carolina Department of Transportation construction sites
2.3.1 LbL modification. The two types of paper filters, filter A and filter B, were modified by the LbL method to introduce a positive net surface charge onto the cellulose fibres. 42 The LbL fibre modification was based on a procedure described by Illergård et al., alternating the adsorption of cationic PVAm and anionic PAA. 43 The differences compared to the procedure reported by Illergård
- What is an anionic polyacrylamide?
- Anionic polyacrylamides make up the largest portion of the polyacrylamide market. The polymers can be prepared over a wide range of anionic charges and molecular weights (1000 to > 20,000,000 molecular weight). The workhorse comonomer for the production of anionic polyacrylamides is acrylate salts of acrylic acid.
- What is nonionic polyacrylamide?
- Nonionic polyacrylamides Nonionic polyacrylamides represent the smallest group of acrylamide-based polymers, representing about 25% of the total polyacrylamide market. Nonionic polyacrylamide is somewhat misleading since in the manufacture of acrylamide, regardless of the route, some degree of hydrolysis of acrylamide occurs.
- What is a high molecular weight nonionic polyacrylamide?
- High-molecular-weight nonionic polyacrylamides are routinely used in the mineral processing industries as thickeners and flocculants , , . 34.2.5. Polyacrylamide product forms The product types for polyacrylamides are solutions, liquids (emulsion or dispersion), and dry powders.
- Can nonionic polyacrylamide be used as a gel fracturing fluid?
- Nonionic polyacrylamide (NPAM) with controlled molecular weight was successfully synthesized as a gel fracturing fluid by aqueous solution polymerization.
