The raw water treatment plant at Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS) handles 70-120 million litres per day (MLD) of raw water contaminated with suspended material resulting from colloidal clay, soil, organic matter, decaying vegetation etc. Such large quantities of water are treated by two clariflocculators.

Organic polyelectrolytes in water treatment
A major use of organic polymers in water treatment is as a coagulant aid to bridge the coagulated particles formed when an aluminium or iron salt has been used as the primary coagulant. An appropriate polyelectrolyte can increase floc size; a strong dense floc of regular shape is preferred. The large aggregates that form then settle more rapidly.
Polyelectrolytes | Thermax
Water, a valuable natural resource, plays a vital role in the day to day life and industrial water treatment operations. Our water and waste water chemical solutions are specifically aimed to meet the challenges of raw water and effluent water in industrial, municipal and institutional segments.
Bench- and pilot-scale tests confirmed the effectiveness of the natural polyelectrolytes, chitosan and sodium alginate, in water treatment. Chitosan performed better than synthetic polyelectrolytes, both as a coagulant aid, and as a filtration aid during direct filtration.
Practicalities In The Use Of Polyelectrolytes - Water
Cationic polymers in common use in the water industry, such as polyDADMAC and ECH/DMA, generally produce little in terms of disinfection by-product formation when the normal levels of polymer utilised in water treatment are exposed to conventional amounts of chlorine [136]. This is illustrated in Fig. 2.
Ours polyelectrolytes are used to condition waste waters, organic and inorganic muds, in process waste water treatment for industrial segments , in mechanical filtration and dehydration processes, in flocculation treatment in combination with organic coagulants. Polyelectrolytes are available either as powder or as cation or anionic emulsions.
Olive Oil Mill Wastewater Treatment Using a Chemical
Olive oil mill wastewaters (OMW) are recalcitrant to biodegradation for their toxicity due to high values of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD), and phenolic compounds. In the present study OMW, collected in southern Italy, were subjected first to a chemical oxidative procedure with FeCl3 and then to a biological treatment.

Produced Water Treatment - Oil&Gas Portal
Author: Vincenzo Piemonte, Associate Professor, University UCBM – Rome (Italy) 1. Theme description Produced water is typically generated in large quantity for the lifespan of a well. It is made up of natural formation water as well as the uphole return of water injected into the formation as part of an enhanced recovery operation. …
