Preparation of Amphoteric Polyacrylamide-Grafted Starch
A polyacrylamide-grafted starch (St-g-AM-DMC-AMPS) flocculant for the coal slurry wastewater was prepared by using corn starch (St), acrylamide (AM), methyl acryloyloxyethy trimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC) as cationic monomer, 2-acrylamido-2-methyl acrylate sulfonic acid (AMPS) as anionic monomer through solution polymerization.
An amphoteric starch-graft-polyacrylamide (S-g-PAM) was prepared by inverse emulsion polymerization, subsequent hydrolysis reaction and Mannich reaction. The effects of reaction conditions on copolymerization and the use of the polymer as the water clarifier in oilfield water treatment were investigated.
Amphoteric Flocculants - PAM Polyacrylamide & Flocculants
The amphoteric polyacrylamide (PAM) is not a mixture of anionic and cationic. If the cationic polyacrylamide bejing used in together with anionic polyacrylamide, the precipitation will be formed. Amphoteric polyacrylamide is a molecule containing both cationic and anionic groups. What are Dissolving Tips for Sinofloc Amphoteric Flocculants?

Preparation of amphoteric alginate flocculants In a flask with magnetic stirring apparatus, 5.0 g of SA powder was dissolved in 200 mL of deionized water and 5 mL of NaOH (1 mol/L). Another solution containing 7.90 g of CTA and 20 mL of NaOH (1 mol/L) was added dropwise to the above SA solution under stirring in a water bath at 45 °C.
Synthesis and application of salt tolerance amphoteric
The results elaborate that the flocculation performances of amphoteric hydrophobic-associating AAB flocculants are better than that of commercial flocculants (cationic and anionic polyacrylamide) and homemade cationic flocculant (AAB-0-5) independent of the type and concentration of salt.
The lignin is recovered from the alkaline paper-making black liquor by acidulation precipitation and then through sulfonation, graft and polycondensation, the amphoteric lignin-base flocculant can be prepared. The application tests show that both of the turbidity removal and decolorization rates are higher than 85%,when the concentrations of the flocculant are 25 mg/L and 300 mg/L.

- What is a natural coagulant for wastewater treatment?
- Novel natural coagulants for wastewater treatment. The coagulant was derived from the mucilage content found in prickly pear peel waste [ 60 ]. The peel waste underwent washing and cleaning with tap water followed by deionized water. Next, the waste was blended with the deionized water using a blender and heated at 50 °C for an hour.
- What is coagulation & flocculation?
- Coagulation/flocculation is a crucial process in water and wastewater treatment that involves adding a coagulant to a liquid to destabilize suspended particles [ 12 ]. This leads to the formation of larger flocs, which adsorb colloidal and dissolved organic matter onto their surfaces and can be more easily removed through sedimentation [ 13 ].
- Are natural coagulants a viable alternative to conventional coagulant treatment?
- The intensive human activities extensively contaminated water sources making its treatment a problem of paramount importance, especially with the increasing of global population and water scarcity. The application of natural coagulants has become a promising and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional ones.
- How effective is flocculant for turbidity removal?
- In these experiments, added 1 mg/L flocculant, a commercial anionic polymer The findings indicate that the most effective conditions for turbidity removal, achieving 76.1%, occur at a water pH of 4 with a coagulant dosage of 100 mg/L.
