The stability of the polyacrylamide flocculant under
The effective PH value range to the anionic polyacrylamide is 5 ~ 14, the effect is good in the treatment of the weak acid, the neutral and the alkaline water. The effective PH value range to the cationic polyacrylamide is 7 ~ 14, the effect is good in the treatment of the neutral and alkaline water. The effective PH value range to the nonionic polyacrylamide is 1 ~ 8, the effect is good in the treatment of the neutral and acid water.
Polyacrylamide, or PAM, is an organic polymer formed from acrylamide sub-units. Initially, it is produced with a simple, repeating, linear chain structure, but can be modified to form highly structured, branched and cross-linked variants. It has many uses throughout a wide range of industrial processes, but one of the main purposes is in the...
Anionic polyacrylamide - wastewater treatment chemicals
Anionic polyacrylamide is the kind of wastewater treatment chemicals which is water-soluble linear polymer synthesized with high degree of polymerization. Anionic polyacrylamide powder is easily soluble in water and almost insoluble in common organic solvents such as benzene, ether, lipids and acetone. Anionic polyacrylamide molecular chain contains a certain amount of polar groups capable of adsorbing suspended solid particles in water, so it is especially suitable for water treatment
Flocculation studies on iron-ore fines (size < 10 μm) were conducted using three anionic polyacrylamide polymers over the pH range 4.0–10.0 and flocculant dosages up to 0.20 kg/ton.The flocculation was favourable under acidic conditions and was helped substantially by CaCl 2 additions in alkaline conditions. Zeta potential measurements indicated a specific adsorption of polymers.
Influence of surfactants on flocculation and dewatering
It exhibits point of zero charge at pH 2.2. Cationic polyacrylamide (PAM-C) of molecular weight 6–7×10 6, charge density 150 C/g and cationicity of 19% has been used as the flocculating agent. The surfactants used in this work are anionic SDS, cationic CTAB and non-ionic TX 100, and were supplied by Sigma chemicals, and Merck, Germany.
A combination of low dosage of flocculant (310 ppb) and TAB (310 ppb), after 5 minutes, presented 88%, 81%, and 62% reduction in turbidity, TSS, and TI content, respectively, whereas by using 5 ppm of flocculant alone (16 times more), only 76%, 75%, and 43% removal was obtained. The results reveal that TAB performs as an efficient coagulant

CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles, Pradeep Teregowda): Summary—High molecular weight, linear polyacrylamide (PAM) with anionic charge is added to agri-cultural soils as an anti-erosion additive. Research indicates that soil microorganisms are able to utilize PAM as a source of N and that inorganic N pools are altered in some PAM-treated soils.
Based on Type, Cationic polyacrylamide is expected to be the fastest-growing segment of the polyacrylamide market in the forecast period. The anionic and cationic segments both accounted for a share of over 85% of total demand for polyacrylamides in 2017.

SELECTIVE USE OF HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYACRYAMIDE
Anionic flocculants are polymers that consist of anionic groups like -СООН, -SO3H, -OSO3H (for example, active silicic acid, sodium polyacrylate, sodium alginate, lignosulphonates etc.). To obtain the anionic flocculant alkaline hydrolysis of polyacrylamide is widely used .
Three distinct techniques have been employed to determine the strength of adhesion of particles in coagulating and flocculating media. Adhesion forces ranging over 4 orders of magnitude were measured with spherical particles of glass (10–30, μm dia.) in aqueous solutions containing varying concentrations of magnesium sulphate and an anionic polyacrylamide flocculant.
- Are catalytic processes a competitive alternative to conventional water treatment technologies?
- Catalytic processes may be a competitive alternative to conventional water treatment technologies. They have much faster kinetics and are less operationally sensitive than current bioremediation-based methods.

- What are water treatment chemicals?
- Water treatment chemicals can be defined as chemical compounds used in the water treatment process to remove impurities which cause corrosion, scales, high turbidity, and biological imbalance. These impurities can be metallic, organic, or non-organic in nature.
