STUDIES ON ULTRASONIC DEGRADATION AND BLOCK COPOLYMERIZATION OF POLYACRYLAMIDE AND POLY(ETHYLENE OXIDE) HU Xingqi; XU Xi Polymer Research Institute, Chengdu University of Science and Technology
Acrylamide is a highly water soluble vinyl monomer formed from the hydration of acrylonitrile. The major commercial use of acrylamide is the formation of polymers. In the environment acrylamide has a high mobility in soil, may travel great distances in ground-water, is biodegradable, and is not absorbed by sediments or affected by water treatment. It is absorbed by all routes of animal

Polyacrylamide (PAM) based friction reducers are a primary ingredient of slickwater hydraulic fracturing fluids. Little is known regarding the fate of these polymers under downhole conditions, which could have important environmental impacts including decisions on strategies for reuse or treatment of flowback water. The objective of this study was to evaluate the chemical degradation of high

Swelling Behavior of Polyacrylamide–Cellulose Nanocrystal
This paper reports swelling behavior of cellulose nanocrystal (CNC)-based polyacrylamide hydrogels prepared by a radical polymerization. The CNC acts as a nanofiller through the formation of complexation and intermolecular interaction. FTIR spectroscopy and XRD studies confirmed the formation of intermolecular bonds between the acrylamide and hydroxyl groups of CNC.

Biological treatment of precious metal refinery wastewater
The municipal wastewater study presented by Melin et al. (2006) shows removal efficiencies of 65% and above for a range of criteria including total suspended solids (>99%), COD (89–98%), biological oxygen demand (>97%) and phosphate removal (80–90%). The case study presented by Ren et al. (2005) for the treatment of greywater reported removal efficiencies of >60% for COD.
Chronic Helicobacter pylori infection increases the risk of gastric cancer and induction of hypoxia-induced factor (HIF), which is frequently associated with the development and progression of several types of cancer. We recently showed that H. pylori activation of the PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway in gastric cells increased HIF-1α expression.
Frontiers | Production of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus
Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)-based viral vector is widely used as a biomaterial to transfer a gene of interest into target cells in many biological study fields including gene therapy. Vesicular stomatitis virus glycoprotein (VSV-G)-containing HIV-1 vector much more efficiently transduces various mammalian cells than other viral envelope proteins-containing vectors.
A total of 50 bands were resolved by SDS-PAGE in the 6.5–200 kDa Mr. range ().Qualitative (absent or band intensity below detection limit in at least one population) and quantitative (bands common to all populations but with different intensities) significant differences were found (ANOVA and Kruskall-Wallis test, p < .05) in 12 bands.Bands 12 and 21 showed qualitative differences and bands
- What is polyacrylamide PAM flocculant?
- The following are their detailed introduction and specifications. As a polymer flocculant for water treatment, polyacrylamide pam flocculant can absorb suspended particles in water, act as a link and bridge between particles, make fine particles form relatively large flocs, and speed up the speed of precipitation.
- What are the advantages of cationic polymer flocculants?
- The observed flocs stability is a major advantage of cationic polymer flocculants. Inorganic flocculants formed a foamy and powdery layer of flocculated biomass on the bottom of the flask in the experiment .
- Can cationic polyacrylamide be used for oily wastewater treatment?
- Zhao C, Zheng H, Gao B, Liu Y, Zhai J, Zhang S, Xu B (2018) Ultrasound-initiated synthesis of cationic polyacrylamide for oily wastewater treatment: Enhanced interaction between the flocculant and contaminants.
- Can cationic polymer flocculants be developed by photo-polymerization?
- In this study, we utilized recent developments in the photo-polymerization technique to develop two cationic polymer flocculants by polymerizing two types of monomers for harvesting Chlorella vulgaris ( C. vulgaris) and Porphyridium purpureum ( P. purpureum ), which are freshwater and marine microalgae species, respectively.
