Anaerobic Treatment of Milk Processing Wastewater
Abstract. Anaerobic processes are widely used for the treatment of milk and dairy effluents. This technology has been subjected to significant development and real-scale application in the last few decades and offers highly favorable perspectives to accomplish a complete biodegradation of the components present in milk processing wastewaters such as sugars, proteins, and fats.
Abstract. This chapter provides an overview of the current management and treatment of hospital wastewater in Asia, Africa, and Australia. Twenty peer reviewed papers from different countries have been analyzed, highlighting the rationale behind each study and the efficacy of the investigated treatment in terms of macro- and micro-pollutants.
Anaerobic Treatment of Wastewater | Green Technologies
Anaerobic treatment technology has emerged as one of the best treatment processes for different types of wastewater. Anaerobic lagoons are used for high strength organic wastewater, such as industrial wastewaters or a mixture of industrial and domestic wastewaters.
Treatment of domestic wastewater in a UASB and two anaerobic hybrid (AnH) reactors was conducted by Elmitwalli et al. (1999) at a temperature of 13 o C. For pre-settled wastewater treatment, the AnH
What Is Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment and How Does It Work?
Anaerobic wastewater treatment is a type of biological treatment where anaerobic microorganisms are used to break down and remove organic contaminants from wastewater. While anaerobic treatment systems may take a variety of forms, they generally include some form of bioreactor or repository capable of maintaining the oxygen-free environment
A laboratory staged anaerobic fluidized membrane bioreactor (SAF-MBR) system was applied to the treatment of primary clarifier effluent from a domestic wastewater treatment plant with temperature
Accelerating the Deployment of Anaerobic Digestion to Meet
The U.S. places approximately 53% of its total municipal solid waste (MSW) in landfills, but state and local governments across the country are now setting ambitious environmental and waste diversion policies requiring, among other things, diversion and utilization of organics. Municipalities across the U.S. are employing anaerobic digestion (AD) as part of their strategy to divert organic MSW
This study evaluated the demand for 15 generic types of products commonly used by owners and operators of water and wastewater treatment facilities in 136 countries. It provides forecast data for those products, for which BCC Research projects demand will exceed $1 million annually in 2016.

Chapter 3 Recirculating Aquaculture Technologies
Chapter 3 Recirculating Aquaculture Technologies Carlos A. Espinal and Daniel Matuli膰 Abstract Recirculating aquaculture technology, which includes aquaponics, has been under development for the past 40 years from a combination of technologies derived from the wastewater treatment and aquaculture sectors. Until recently,

- Is Italy a good place to recycle waste?
- The data speaks for itself: Italy ranks above the EU average in waste recycling, both special and urban, with a rate of 72%, compared to the European average of around 58%. What are the most recycled materials in recent years, and what actions are needed to further incentivize the recycling of waste and reusable materials?
- What is Italian legislation for treatment and reuse of wastewater?
- Italian legislation for treatment and reuse of wastewater is also based on the TECHNICAL REGULATIONS ON TREATED WASTEWATER REUSE (Ministerial Decree of 2 May, 2006)3 (which substitutes the similar Ministerial Decree no. 185/200326 issued according to the previous Legislative decree no. 155/99).
- What is the most financially sustainable scenario for organic waste treatment?
- Regarding copper (Cu), its price is about 7.628 × 10 2 €/ton, so the price for 1 kg is €7.626. From the results shown in Table 4, it emerges that Scenario 2 generates a total saving of €33.89 per ton of organic waste treated compared to Scenario 1 and is therefore the most financially sustainable scenario. Table 4.
- How does water reuse work in Italy?
- It usually is guaranteed by wastewater plants upgrading through the so-called “refinement plants”61. According to the ARERA annual report, overall, agricultural reuse in 2019 remained the most common application of water reuse in Italy even if only 4% of the volume of purified wastewater is destined for reuse.
