Adsorption Technique for the Removal of Organic Pollutants
Wastewater with organic pollutants contains large quantities of suspended solids which re‐ duce the light available to photosynthetic organisms and, on settling out, alter the character‐ istics of the river bed, rendering it an unsuitable habitat for many invertebrates.
The disposal and use of sludge is a matter that must be scientifically managed. The sludge produced in municipal wastewater treatment plants is only a few percents of the volume of treated wastewater, but its treatment accounts approximately half of the total operating costs. Therefore, the need to accomplish a sustainable sludge management strategy is becoming increasingly challenging.
Electrolytic Treatment of Wastewater in the - IntechOpen
Electrolytic Treatment of Wastewater in the Oil Industry 5 sand, clay and other materials, along with a range of dissolved colloidal substances, such as detergents, salts, metal ions, etc. To meet environmental standards for disposal and/or the characteristics necessary for reuse, the treatment of oily water can be complex, dependent on
Advanced water/wastewater treatment techniques including ion exchange separation, filtration separation, and adsorption are essential in the removal of nonbiodegradable toxic wastes from water. In the current study, removal of heavy metal ions from water/wastewater and the use of response surface methodology (RSM) for experimental optimization were examined thoroughly.
Non-Incineration Medical Waste Treatment Technologies
Non-Incineration Medical Waste Treatment Technologies in Europe 3 Executive summary The international Convention on the Elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) lists medical waste incinerators among the main dioxin sources in the environment. However, medical waste incinerators emit a wide range of
Seaweed composition greatly varies, not only across species, but also in response to seasonal environmental changes [41,59,60].During the summer, macroalgae produce higher amounts of volatile solids and sugar, whereas in spring, they generate fewer volatile solids and show a higher protein and mineral content [].This fluctuation in composition influences the biochemical methane potential, as

In countries with fluoridation of public water, it is imperative to determine other dietary sources of fluoride intake to reduce the public health risk of chronic exposure. New Zealand has one of the highest per capita consumption rates of black tea internationally and is one of the few countries to artificially fluoridate public water; yet no information is available to consumers on the

The UNRAVEL project aims to develop advanced pre-treatment, separation and conversion technologies for complex lignocellulosic biomass. The technology relies on pre-extraction, fractionation using low-temperature acetone and subsequent downstream processing to isolate and convert the lignocellulosic constituents into high-value applications.
